You will serve as a Housing Support Assistant in the Commander Navy Region Southwest of NB SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will receive and review all incoming correspondence and prepares replies to general inquiries to meet command needs. You will input applicant and occupant information in a computer system (e.g., family housing automation system, enterprise Military Housing [eMH] system) to track family housing data. You will arrange for maintenance, repair, or procurement of office equipment and supplies. You will inform applicants of housing laws, civil codes, local customs, and family housing related information. You will compose correspondence (e.g., technical reports, presentations) observing proper format, grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Analyzing data to develop recommendations to housing/administrative problems; 2) Purchasing supplies, equipment, and services through a variety of small purchase methods (i.e. Government Purchase Card); 3) Tracking expenditures for budgeting and financial analysis; 4) Arranging meetings, conferences, and travel (i.e. making reservations, notifying organizations/officials to be visited, submitting travel vouchers, etc.); 5) Drafting housing correspondence (i.e. letters, forms, manuals, etc.) in accordance with proper grammar and format. NOTE: This experience must be fully demonstrated in your resume to be considered for this position. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
