About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Public Works.
Duties
Serves as the Chief of Public Works (DPW), with direct oversight of a large staff of engineers, craftsmen, skilled labor and administrative personnel located at the
Vicksburg, Champaign and Hanover campuses.
Plan, program, and direct Public Works Operations for all ERDC geographical locations.
Work closely with ERDC Safety and Environmental Management Office to assure compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations that pertain to the ERDC installations.
Brief and inform higher management officials such as the Director, Deputy Director, Commander, Chief Integration and Operations Officer, and Chief, Installation
Support Division on all matters pertaining to the ERDC installations at each site.
Daily management of facility engineering, program planning, design, and construction, assisting research, development, or test and evaluation performed by various ERDC Laboratory engineers and scientists.
Develop long-range programs to address periodic maintenance programs, contract management, construction and renovation projects, budgeting, and internal controls.
Perform continuing reviews of all engineering and base activities/programs to ensure management objectives are met and recommend changes as appropriate.
Requirements

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience conducting or directing research and development that combines elements of theories and methods to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain facilities to make advanced facility and installation operations more efficient and cost-effective; manage the execution of facilities repair, major maintenance, and construction programs; and has direct responsibility for planning and implementing a maintenance program for all research and development facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-02 (GS-11).

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-XXXX-4 (equivalent to GS-12/14).
