About the Position: Serves as Director, DoD Supercomputing Research Center (DSRC). Working under the general supervision of the Chief, Supercomputing Research Center (SRC), incumbent is responsible for planning, managing, and operating ERDC's resources supporting the DSRC, with oversight, coordination, and technical leadership of all key projects within the organization, including supercomputing operations, networks, security, software application support, and data visualization and analysis.
Duties
Develop, plan, and execute all aspects of the strategic vision for the ERDC DSRC in coordination with the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program Office (HPCMPO) and the ERDC.
Develop and execute the DSRC’s annual $25M operational budget, and execute of $26M technology refresh program every other year.
Plan, direct, and execute the work of the DSRC in accordance with general policies and directions as formulated by ERDC and HQUSACE.
Provide a complete high performance computing (HPC) environment with a full range of resources including hardware, software, data storage, archiving, visualization, training, and expertise in specific computational technology areas.
Facilitate highly technical and complex discussions between customers.
Develop close working relationships with other ERDC organizations that facilitate the development and transfer of research and development products to Corps, the Army and other customers.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Supervisory Position. A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes leading a multidisciplinary workforce; understanding of the diverse technical aspects of the field of high-performance computing, and/or knowledge of Federal high performance computing program management and execution. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-04(GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-XXXX-05 (equivalent to GS-15). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, Laboratory Demonstration Project employees must have a current average performance score of at least 2.5 or equivalent (fully successful rating) for promotion consideration."
