You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist in the Spectrum Warfare Department of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU.

Duties

You will plan, budget and coordinate evaluation of emerging and disruptive technologies. You will coordinate with N-98, PEO(T), and PMA-234 to refine airborne EA requirements and identify opportunities. You will participate in PMA-234 program execution and strategic planning. You will provide technical and operational insight necessary for related, emerging technologies to operationally relevant scenarios, challenges, and needs. You will advise and mentor PMA-234 program personnel on all aspects of EW/EA program.

  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12/13) or pay band (DP-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of an Interdisciplinary Engineer/Scientist. Specialized experiences must include duties related to the following: (1) Performing work related to budgeting and schedule development; (2) Utilizing threat systems applicable in the electronic warfare environment; (3) Preparing and delivering clear, concise briefings and reports to senior level technical and program experts; (4) Performing work related to electronic warfare systems, aircraft avionics, navigation, sensors, and mission planning; and (5) Performing work related to product development life cycle in all phases of electronic warfare avionics systems integration. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

08XX Series:
Successful completion of a degree in Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

1520 Series:
Successful completion of a degree in mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
OR
A combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

1550 Series:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
