This position is part of the Office of Environment, Health, Safety, and Security. As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist, you will be responsible for strategic and operational planning of all aspects of information systems and programs that support the regulatory, assistance, and operations objectives. As the Deputy Director, you will assist the Director in providing executive leadership and managerial direction to IT Staff.
Duties
This is a remote restricted position. Selectee may work from home; however, must reside within commuting distance of DOE Worksite - Germantown, Maryland.

- This position works remotely, but the employee must live within a realistic commuting distance from the DOE Worksite. If selected, it is required to sign a remote work agreement detailing remote working conditions and expectations for position.
- You are required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of entering the position and annually.
- First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- This position has been designated as Critical Sensitive/High Risk and requires a security clearance at the Q- LEVEL. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
- New supervisors are required to complete 80 hours of supervisory training of which 40 hours must be completed during your first year as a supervisor.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT: To become a 2210 IT Specialist in the federal government, you must have IT-related education or experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service in the following four competencies:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
Providing Information Technology technical services, guidance, and support on a wide range of information technology matters that include development, procurement, and implementation of IT systems and applications.
Interpreting policies and directives to ensure compliance with technology requirement, capabilities, security, limitations, and emerging technology.
Identifying IT advancements that foster innovation, productivity, and performance.
Overseeing Information Technology programs or project providing leadership, guidance, and setting priorities.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
