Duties
Serves as Chief of Staff to the Director, DLA Information Operations, J-6 and together with the Director and Deputy Director, actively participates in the management and administration of the organization.
Oversees various aspects of managing the logistics of Chief Information Officer (CIO)/Deputy CIO’s daily work, including presentations, requests for information, cont.
(cont.) taskings, interactions with colleagues, and scheduling, based on organizational needs and priorities.
Responsible for projects to include studies in organizational concept and operating relationships with inorganizations; the changing IT environment in Federal agencies; and the incorporation of new IT systems and initiatives.
Provides staff guidance on the Director's/Deputy Director’s requirements, plans, commitments, and objectives and assists in the coordination, control, and oversight of organizational work processes.
Advises the Director/Deputy Director on developing long-term planning, forecasts, objectives, and priorities of the DLA Information Technology (IT) program and initiatives.
Assists the Director/Deputy Director in planning and execution of information technology policy within the Agency and promotes the enhancement of overall operational effectiveness of IT functional specialists.
Serves as key advisor to the Director/Deputy Director in the formulation of Agency-wide IT policy.
Continually advises the Director/Deputy Director on strategies for problem solving and process improvements, as well as continuous improvement in program areas, responsiveness to customer needs, and improved effectiveness of the DLA IT program.

Qualifications
To qualify for Chief of Staff, your qualifications must include:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-15 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Responsibility for coordinating and integrating policies, guidelines, procedures, and activities to ensure effective, efficient, and economical IT planning, acquisition, and management in support of agency missions and objectives.
- Providing executive direction and management of the IT and telecommunications facilities and resources.
- Providing staff guidance on requirements, plans, commitments, and objectives, and assisting in the coordination, control, and oversight of organizational work processes.
- Advising on developing long-term planning, forecasts, objectives, and priorities of the agency's IT program and initiatives.
B. Education: Applicants may not qualify for this position based on education in lieu of specialized experience

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
