You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICE (Code 1160) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will serve in an assistant compacity to the Public Affairs Officer. You will manage the shipyard's Internet page and appropriate sites. You will create and coordinate execution of communication plans. You will support the Radiological Emergency Response Organization through plans, training and execution of RERO drills and incident response. You will coordinate media coverage of special events. You will research and develop news articles for the Shipyard newspaper.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying public affairs methods and practices to develop communication strategies, identify issues, and make recommendations for facilitating an organization's community relations program.
