About the Position: This position is located at the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (JMTC).
Duties
Serves as a technical and administrative supervisor over the Electroplating Branch, exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations involving 10 employees.
Provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities, policies, and ensures the employee follow work operations and accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work.
Controls all property for the unit supervised which includes serving as the hand receipt holder, takes necessary action to assure the proper care, custody and use of property and the maintenance of appropriate property records.
Establishes a good working climate to encourage employees to participate in achieving management goals, and to promote efficient and economical work operations.
Develops performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
Maintains required reports and records and periodically reviews standard operating procedures for accuracy, recommending changes when necessary.
Establishes deadlines, allocation of resources and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision
Plans weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.

- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) one (1) year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to supervise. The work of the position normally includes: Providing oversight or leader over employees in performing electroplating work in a manufacturing/industrial environment; Providing guidance regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and/or other directives to employees; Applying high degree of knowledge with electroplating operations, performing electroplating and metal finishing on different types of metals, determining thickness of plating, determining kinds of plating or metal finishing to use for types of metals; and Recommending solutions to problems and improvements to equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Working Conditions: Works inside a shop area having adequate light, ventilation, and safety controls. May be exposed to acid solutions, solvents, noxious fumes, excessive humidity, and a variety of caustic chemicals. Protection from exposure to burns, scalds, or skin irritation may be required to wear and uncomfortable safety equipment such as rubber gloves, aprons, goggles, or face shields. Hearing protection is also required.
