As a Data Analyst , you will plan and perform data management work of a complex nature, extracting data from multiple sources, assessing historical information, making predictions on future performance, and identifying trends.Location of position: Public Buildings Service (PBS), National Capital Region (NCR), Office of Facilities Management (OFM), Metropolitan Service Center Springfield, VA.We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Applies a wide range of quantitative and qualitative principles and methods, as well as descriptive analytics to analyze, document, and as needed, present historical trends and program information. Analyzes data patterns; identifies anomalies; and brings them to the attention of the supervisor or a higher graded specialist. Collects data and using standard statistical techniques, prepares summaries and/or findings which document trends and/or data relationships.
Uses structured query language (SQL) and visual basic for applications (VBA) programming in addition to Microsoft Access, Excel, Google Sheets, and/or other analytic tools to retrieve standard data from the GSA national systems through Open Database Connectivity (ODBC).Uses data visualization tools, such as Tableau or MicroStrategy, to design and present information that is visually consistent. In collaboration with higher graded staff, provides advice to other staff throughout NCR on matters relating to data gathering, systems management, and information needs to support the Division.
Evaluates PBS business systems and processes to capture and document findings used to improve data accuracy and business system effectiveness. Extracts, reviews, and validates standard data to support and make recommendations for improvements for performance measures that impact the Division.
Collaborates with others in OFM to ensure comprehensive information through data sharing and electronic data interchange throughout the Division. Participates in broader data analysis studies and complex projects with higher graded staff and in so doing, contributes to proposed solutions to errors, and gathers and evaluates a variety of business data to shape it into useful business information and tailored reports.

The GS-11 salary range starts at $82,724 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is experience analyzing and interpreting data; maintaining and manipulating data management systems; verifying the accuracy of the data in the system(s), and performing statistical and analytical analyses in order to make recommendations to management for the improvement of business operations, processes, projects and/or systems. Such experience:
Using Standard Query Language (SQL) programming to manage or manipulate data in a relational database management system.
Use of a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques; and
Written and oral presentation of highly technical business data reports
