You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of NCIS.
All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will interpret, formulate, and implement regulatory guidance for SCI and SAP requirements.
You will conduct security reviews of all new construction and renovation plans for SCIFs and SAP-Fs.
You will staff SCI and SAP access requests for all headquarters departments and all NCIS field activities for NCIS personnel, naval reservists and contractors.
You will provide assistance in determining adequacy of the organization's information, personnel, physical, SCI and SAP security programs.
You will maintain a current listing of all SCI and SAP accesses for the organization worldwide and prepare and deliver security education training to those individuals.
You will process, interview, indoctrinate and debrief personnel requiring access to SCI and SAP.

- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
-Experience with physical security facilities, procedures, and methods, which are required to
monitor physical security systems in order to enforce physical security requirements for NCIS
worldwide.
-Experience with security regulations and policies affecting employment of individuals
in governmental positions, either for the purpose of applying those regulations to applicants and
employees, or to ensure security protection, which is adequate in terms of personnel, involved.
-Ability to interpret and promulgate Security Program policy
-Experience with personnel security principles (non-SCI), concepts and
methodology, including DOD and DON instructions and regulations.
