The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive program and administrative support to the Assistant Chief of Staff for Primary Care (ACOS-PC), the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center (BVAMC) Nurse Practitioner Residency (NPR) Program, and the BVAMC Women's Wellness Clinic. Performs work which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities.

Duties

Major duties include but is not limited to: Supports all aspects of the Nurse Practitioner Residency Program management and administrative requirements and its integration with other training programs at the Boise VAMC which is affiliated with the three educational institutions. Routinely researches and analyzes data submitted by clinical and non-clinical services for reports compiled for the OAA and other governing bodies such as the Medical Center Executive Committee and the Academic Partnership Council. Maintains a working and up-to-date understanding of the policies and procedures of VA regulations as well as nursing graduate programs curriculum requirements and designs practices within the residency program to ensure compliance with these policies. Develops tracking mechanisms, analyzes data, measures results, reports findings and makes recommendations to Residency leadership for corrective actions as warranted by program requirements. Responsible for the implementation of programmatic changes recommended by program leadership. Oversees the task timeline for all aspects of nurse practitioner residency operations and ensures integration between key elements. Ensures integration of Residents' weekly schedules into the primary care residency hospital service schedule. Ensures yearly clinic schedules of all residents meet training requirements for graduation. Obligates funds via the 1358 process with for relevant fund control points (FCP). Ensures that fund control points contain the amount needed to pay invoices. Independently projects increases for FCPs, as invoices are received 30 days after the end of the month. Processes bi-monthly nurse practitioner residents payroll. Coordinates collation and tracing of input from services; works with other services toward completed reports; prepares and supports others as required to assure the accuracy and timeliness of reporting mandated by governing, accrediting and affiliated bodies. Implement revisions or work processes, or interrelated functions to ensure appropriate actions are taken regarding health profession trainees, either sponsored by the VA or by an academic affiliate. Reviews and assesses frequently updated pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources and applies analytical and evaluative methods and techniques in meeting the corresponding requirements. Develops recommendations and proposals for projects and studies which typically requires knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization. Reviews and prepares correspondence with internal and external agents such as the Executive Leadership Team of the BVAMC, the OAA and academic affiliates. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant/PD606510 Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. No special physical demands such as above average ability, dexterity or strength are required to perform the work. Work is sedentary and the incumbent may sit comfortably. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving of an automobile. There is light physical activity including pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping and climbing stairs.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Coordinates all administrative aspects of timekeeping, travel arrangements, prepares reports, manage schedules, prepares correspondence, maintains manuals, brochures and information; Manages provider licensures, competencies and training files; maintains all documentation according to local policy; ensuring appropriate levels of privacy and access; manages a system of communication ensuring data and reports are made available to appropriate staff and affiliates; coordinates collation and tracing of input from other services or sources; organize and prepares administrative data for presentations. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and ending dates AND hours worked per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.
