This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Rock Island is located in the southwest corner of Quad Cities in western Illinois on the Mississippi River, 165 miles west of Chicago and between Minneapolis and St. Louis, sitting on 946 acres between the cities Davenport and Rock Island. It is one of the largest weapons manufacturing arsenals.
Duties
Maintain existing servers and minicomputer systems at optimum efficiency levels.
Perform system administration duties for assigned computer systems.
Ensure Information Assurance (IA) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance.
Develop, revise, and implement software sub-systems with improvements consistent with technological advances and/or changes in program requirements.
Analyze and trace system program failures involving the inter-relationships of software sub-systems, applications programs and hardware.
Install new or modified software, hardware, systems, or operating procedures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

Basic Requirement for IT Specialist(OS/SysAdmin):
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: 1) Analyzing and tracing system program failures 2) Performing system administration duties for assigned computer systems and 3) Preparing technical documentation and instructs users/operators as appropriate.
