You will serve as a GG-0080-13 Security Specialist at the Intelligence Division, Deputy Commandant for Information, HQ US MARINE CORPS in Arlington, VA, where you will provide analyses, recommendation, and implementation of security measures to ensure compliance with overarching security policies, directives, and regulations.

Duties

You will provide interpretation and guidance regarding security policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information from national security threats. You will participate in security analyses and assessments to provide recommendations for local policies and programs. You will analyze, identify, and coordinate resources, processes, and activities that translate policy into effective command security programs and capabilities designed to protect national security information, personnel, and critical infrastructure. You will identify resources requirements for security architectures, systems, processes, and procedures to build/maintain Intelligence Community Directive 705 Compliant facilities. You will attend relevant Service, Departmental, and Intelligence Community meetings as assigned to assist in changes to policies and procedures. You will perform as acting Branch Head in the absence of the Branch Head.

Requirements

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) certification as required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, such as: 1. Provide interpretation and guidance regarding security policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information from national security threats. 2. Provide support to leadership regarding sensitive compartmented information (SCI) security initiatives and projects. 3. Participate in security analyses and assessments to provide recommendations for local policies and programs. 4. Evaluate relevant material to provide input to Intelligence Community data calls.
