Duties

Independently identify the need for and develop new policy or recommend changes to existing Department of the Army (DA) policies, standards and procedures for managing strategic or tactical automation and cyber security. Prepare, manage, review the preparation, coordination, and publication of regulations, policy, supplements, memorandums, pamphlets, or circulars concerning strategic or tactical automation and boundary security hardware and software. Coordinate draft versions of the policy, procedures, and standards with personnel within the MTC, Major Subordinate Units, and other Army commands and activities when required. Provide accurate and timely reviews and recommendations to HQDA CIO/G6 on issues related to strategic or tactical training architecture in accordance with policy and standards. Develop IT security plans, policy guidance, regulations, and procedures (SOPs) to ensure cyber security regulatory requirements are followed. Provide oversight for cyber security program, ensuring compliance with overall Command-wide plans and higher authority policies and guidance. Lead various cyber security meetings with MTC and other organizational elements and Information Technology representatives of subordinates to plan, evaluate, and determine appropriate measures needed to ensure security requirements are met Conduct periodic surveys to determine compliance with applicable regulations and policies, and reviews and evaluates the security impact of system changes, including interfacing with other automated systems. Administer programs which address cyber security operations and cyber security readiness to include Information Operations Condition (INFOCON) and cyber security readiness metric when required and develop quarterly and annual reports. Advise management regarding measures to mitigate a threat to the LandWarNet and the Global Information Grid. Ensure conformance with the Army network security architecture and assist units with development of cyber security controls. Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This is an Information Assurance Manager Level 2 position. Required to complete trainings and obtain the required certification outlined in DoD 8570.01-M. Minimum certification requirements at time of employment or within six months of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • The incumbent is required on an occasional basis to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position may require occasional TDY with travel on military and/or commercial aircraft.
  • This is a Cyber Security Workforce position. must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Management, requirements may be found in DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
  • Minimum Certification at Level II in Information Assurance Management requirements at time of employment or within six months of employment. Additionally, selectee will fulfill continuing education requirements on an annual basis.
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP Certified) or able to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM Certified) or able to obtain within six months of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
  • Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
