About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
This position is with the 7th Signal Command, 106th Signal Brigade located in Fort Carson, Colorado.
Duties
Analyzes directives and regulations to determine effect on IT infrastructure operations to include voice/data/video networks and architectures.
Performs continuing study and review of methods and techniques for advancement of IT capabilities through more efficient equipment utilization and job automation.
Serves as the technical consultant in the unclassified and classified IT infrastructure field providing authoritative advice, guidance and assistance to functional area supervisors, functional managers, operating personnel,
and NETCOM personnel on policies and plans, concepts, and principles.
Provides program related advice, information and guidance regarding current and future information technology concepts, methods, practices, and operation of information technologies to support organizational IT requirements and goals.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- TDY up to 15% may be required.
- Overtime and on-call duty may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- This position requires IAW DoD 8140-01-M within the first six months of entry into the position.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one-year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: Planning and developing projects for network installations; Reviewing telecommunications and network technologies to meet productivity and efficiency; Analyzing and regulating IT infrastructure operations of networks and architectures; Consulting on infrastructure improvement projects and developing cost estimates plans; Reviewing IT programs to assess overall compliance with policies and business requirements.

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information; and
(4) Problem Solving
Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.
