About the Position: HQ United States Military Entrance Processing Command, North Chicago, IL, is a joint service command staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. Two geographic sectors provide intermediate management in operating the MEPS.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Implement standardized and/or regulatory policies for the Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) to ensure compliance.
Conduct analyses concerning the Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) processing of applicants for service in the Armed Forces.
Apply analytical and evaluative methods and/or techniques impacting the travel and processing of applicants for the Armed Forces.
Perform case management on applicant files to determine how applicant's processing status may be resolved.
Communicate results of analytical studies that contribute to the Command qualifying and accessing individuals for service in the Armed Forces.
Requirements
- Incumbent may be required to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent is required to work occasional Saturdays, be on call, and work overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with the review of workflow or business processes to identify areas of improvement; 2) Conducting studies to support senior management decision making on administrative or technical programs; 3) Preparing technical reports on approaches for projects/programs; and 4) Briefing managers on study findings and/or recommendations for program improvements.

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Public Policy, Management, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09)
