Job opening: Security Specialist (Antiterrorism)

About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the U.S. Army Service Component Command Alternate Antiterrorism (AT) Officer. Administers multiple facets of the AT program to include inspections, surveys, training, equipment, and policy development.

Duties

Assess the effectiveness of security measures through risk assessments and vulnerability analyses. Develop and implement antiterrorism plans and strategies to protect personnel, facilities, and assets. Conduct threat assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and risks to the organization. Develop and deliver training programs on antiterrorism measures for employees and contractors. Conduct security briefings and debriefings for personnel traveling to high-risk areas. Evaluate physical security measures and recommend enhancements to deter terrorist attacks. Develop and maintain crisis management plans for responding to incidents. Provide guidance to senior leadership on security policies and procedures related to terrorism threats. Represent the organization in meetings and conferences related to antiterrorism initiatives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 5 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Antiterrorism Certification (ATC) within their first two years of employment.
  • Incumbent must complete Antiterrorism Level 2 training requirements according to IAW AR 525-13 within their first two years of employment.
  • This position May be designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position may require rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
