About the Position: Serves as Provost Marshal and Chief, Protection/Mission Assurance Division, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). As the senior subject matter expert, the incumbent will oversee the development of policy and execution of a wide array of complex and technical programs such as Risk Management, Physical Security, Law Enforcement, Antiterrorism, Emergency Management (EM), Mission Assurance, and Operations Security.
Duties
Direct the development and/or revision of long-range plans, goals, and objectives related to assigned responsibilities and manages the development of policy changes in response to changes in levels of appropriations or other associated changes.
Support the integration and synchronization of Army Protection Program (APP) related disciplines consisting of Cybersecurity, Force Health Protection, Security Programs and Suitability.
Oversee EM preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation actions in response to national emergency and/or all-hazards disaster scenarios.
Execute resource management decision-making authority for critical equipment and training requirements commensurate with DoD common levels of service.
Approve risk mitigation and remediation measures developed in response to HQDA Mission Assurance and OSD Joint Mission Assurance Assessment studies and assures the integration of MA strategies and solutions with other protection programs.
Advise employees of the performance requirements of their positions and keeps them informed individually on progress toward meeting requirements.
Prepare formal evaluations of employee performance standards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with SCI or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program and requires the incumbent to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Being responsible for providing guidance, implementation, and enforcement of a comprehensive and integrated protection and security programs and systems; 2) Perform crisis management planning and execution in support of a protection program and other emergencies; and 3) Provide planning advice and recommendations to senior officials regarding resolution of complex vulnerabilities, crisis management, and possible responses to increased threats.
