You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the Production Division of the Public Works Departments of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will direct work priorities, project schedules, and detailed work plans to meet pipefitting production requirements. You will recommend changes to work sequences to accomplish production pipefitting work in a timely manner. You will review pipefitting work performed by employees for consistency with the objectives. You will interpret blueprints and sketches to plan and layout routing and placement of piping systems. You will interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and layout the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of different piping systems and equipment.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of various piping systems and equipment. 2) Installs equipment such as described above, by planning and completing the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment, dete1mining and placing the equipment at the proper levels and points in the systems, and joining, sealing, and testing systems and equipment for proper pressures, leak-free joints, and operation. 3) Plans and lays out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment. 4) Ability to connect and disconnect services to ships pierside, ensuring proper function of all services connected.
