This position is located at Departmental Offices,Management CFO- Info Systems and CIO. As a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), you will assure the appropriate protection of cyber information, services, and assets. Security is critical to Treasury's daily operations and fulfillment of its mission, which relies on protection of both sensitive unclassified and national security systems throughout the Department.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Provides technical and acquisition expertise for the design, development, and implementation of information security programs used throughout Treasury. Performs duties that ensure agency compliance with higher-level policy directives and Executive orders governing infrastructure protection..
Prioritizes and schedules areas to be evaluated and develops assessment criteria.
Analyzes findings and develops long-range plans for security systems that minimize risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, prevent security incidents, and insure systems reliability.
Evaluates the IT security effectiveness of existing agency programs. Identifies new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols throughout agency systems.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Experience developing, defining, managing, and documenting IT projects specific to cybersecurity; AND
Experience developing and interpreting policies for implementation in cybersecurity programs; AND
Experience participating in making decisions and recommendations influencing IT/cybersecurity policies and programs.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:For the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Leading projects and studies related to information technology and infrastructure life cycle processes resulting in highly available and secure computing resource solutions; AND
Developing project criteria including plans, milestones, risk monitors, financial reports and deliverables; AND
Conducting project status briefs to sponsors and oversight bodies regarding scope, schedule and costs.
Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
Analyzing findings and developing long-range options for security systems that minimize risk, mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure systems reliability; AND
Assessing potential impact on existing program requirements
OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR- 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or a LL.M., if related;
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed
below.

Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
