This position(s) is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Office of the Director, in Washington, DC.
In this position, you will be responsible for providing administrative support for extramural research, education, and extension in coordination with other REE agencies that focus on intramural research and data collection.
Duties
Serves as office manager with complete responsibility for all operations of the Directors Office.
Schedules to ensure coverage of telephones and support needs of the Director and general efficient operation of the office.
Establishes and maintains office and committee files.
Prepares agendas and assembles necessary records and files.
Completes all travel arrangements for Director and furnishes itineraries to officials and staff members.
Maintains contact with other USDA officials, officials of other Federal and State agencies and organizations, representatives of private industry and leaders in agricultural fields.
Provides information on matters pertaining to questions of policy and procedure not requiring the personal attention of the Director.
Follows up as necessary to assure reply is forwarded and/or answered in a reasonable time.
Serves as a Controlled Correspondence Officer and works with the staff of the USDA Office of Executive Secretariat.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, 3/15/2024, including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade:
Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
GS-10:Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-10 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-09 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience recording meeting notes or minutes; preparing travel arrangements; editing and reviewing correspondence for errors; and briefing supervisors on their day-to-day schedule.
Applicant must be able to type 40 words per minute.
