The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as the Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM AC ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating and delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.
Duties
Manage all aspects of Occupational Safety and Health Program.
Coordinate the efforts of and provide leadership to safety personnel within the organization.
Provide guidance concerning the application of Safety and Occupational regulations.
Provide oversight and instruction to ensure occupational health and safety compliance across all aspects of organizational capabilities and efforts.
Exercise the full range of supervisory and personnel management authorities and responsibilities in directing work of subordinate staff.
Serve as the safety and occupational health specialist and explosiveS expert for a technical organization (research, test, and development activities) with responsibility for leading, managing, overseeing and evaluating execution of these programs
Prepare briefings and presentations to staff and higher command echelons.
Perform strategic analysis of safety statistics and trends.
Develop program polices in accordance with Safety and Occupational Health regulations.
Prepare safety policies, guidance documents and regulations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Three-year probationary period may be required.
- Two-year supervisory probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as performing ALL of the following duties:
1) Experience in developing, deploying, and communicating a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health (S&OH) Program in accordance with all statutory and regulatory requirements to include the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidance/regulations; 2) Experience formulating and/or updating policies and standard operating procedures for a S&OH program; 3) Experience developing strategic plans to improve the safety of personnel, working environment, and facilities; 4) Experience in providing safety and occupational health program related advice and guidance to senior leaders and stakeholders on the unique aspects of radiation, explosives, weapons, and ammunition safety; and 5) Experience supervising subordinate employees in a Risk Management Office construct consisting of business and technical personnel in the S&OH and related fields.
