About the Position: Serve as Budget Analyst responsible for assigned Army budget programs. Perform budget program planning, analysis, execution, and policy advisory functions for assigned programs throughout the command.
Duties
Serves as Budget Analyst responsible for assigned Army budget programs. Incumbent performs budget program planning, analysis, execution, and policy advisory functions for assigned programs throughout the command.
Advises management of problems, trends, unfavorable ratios and deviations from normal situations which are disclosed by the analysis of resource management information; makes recommendations to management for corrective action.
Interprets budget policy, coordinates and plans budget services, management of resources and forecasting budgetary trends and activities.
Provides technical expertise and guidance regarding the use of military accounting procedures and Army appropriations.
Assists in reviewing Command Level Guidance, and Detailed Guidance for the current year of the Command Operating Program for the purpose of assuring its adequacy and timeliness.
Applying advanced analysis techniques to program data expressed in financial terms which includes detailed review of budget requirements for specific programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Certification Level 2 Requirement: THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position designated as such in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing and analyzing the formulation and execution of assigned accounts within the Command Operating Budget; providing guidance to stakeholders of funds for assigned accounts; monitors the use and rate of expenditure of budgeted funds for assigned accounts; providing narrative of the causes of variances between actual and budget objectives; and compiles cost figures to be used in forecasting funding needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
