About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W0G1AA US ARMY FUTURES COMMAND.
Duties
Serve as a Battalion Security Specialist; develop, plan, oversee, administer, manage, implement, and enforce a multi-discipline security program.
Security disciplines include information security (INFOSEC), industrial security (INDSEC), personnel security (PERSEC), and security education, training and Awareness (SETA).
Plan and direct the security programs for the Army Futures Command Support Battalion (AFCSB) in coordination with the AFCSB Security Manager and reports to the AFCSB Commander.
Provide guidance and direction regarding security programs, including Information Security, industrial security, personnel security, and security education and training.
Develop and promulgate AFCSB security policy, regulations, and procedures and monitors program activities to assure compliance with requirements.
Conduct inspections and staff visits to subordinate activities to assess the security posture, identify problem areas, and recommend actions to improve security effectiveness.
Prepare reports of inspections and visits, and brief commanders and managers throughout the command on security problems and issues.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Industrial Security program.
Provide expert and authoritative advice and recommendations for all Industrial Security-related matters as it relates to AFCSB security support to the AFC HQs element and AFCSB supported units.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Program and requires the individual obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized experience is defined as experience researching, interpreting and applying security and intelligence technical methods, policies, regulations, and procedures to administer and/or manage a multi-discipline security program to include providing advice, guidance and assistance in Information Security (INFOSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), and Personnel Security (PERSEC) program discipline areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
