About the Position: As a Traffic Management Specialist in the Domestic Movement Support Division, Operations Directorate, G3, The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining high customer satisfaction by ensuring SDDC's performance exceeds expectations and remains the preferred transportation service provider.

Duties

Participate in workshops and other forums to develop understanding of customer requirements. Investigate situations and circumstances related to transportation functions. Provide support to shippers and carriers on shipments moving via all surface modes of transportation (motor, rail, and barge). Support senior transportation management specialists with commercial carrier registration. Accomplish goals and standards set forth by organizational structures, lines of communications, and automated systems. Resolve problems presented by customers. Review and interpret regulations and directives received from higher authority. Answer transportation program inquiries, both verbal and written.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Coordinating transportation activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely movement of goods and/or passengers; (2) Utilizing a broad knowledge of freight tender and contract transportation law, procedures, policies, and regulations; (3) Assisting customers with the business processes and operating procedures for shipping cargo utilizing automated transportation systems; (4) Resolving carrier and shipper budget and/or cost disputes; and (5) Providing technical advice and guidance on domestic cargo movements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
