You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Corporate Operations Department (Code 1100), Security Division (Code 1110) of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.

Duties

You will maintain all security files, instructions, directives and publications. You will use a variety of security and computer software programs (DISS, NBIS e-APP, MP ICAM, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) You will use the DISS to verify security clearance status, submit incident reports, Customer Service Requests (CSR) and Request for Actions (RFA). You will assist the SERMC Information Security Officer with analyzing the overall mission and functions of the command information security program. You will read and determine if incoming unclassified correspondence and messages require any action. Safeguard, control and route classified mail. You will use the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) to process newly assigned SERMC contractor personnel and prepare application forms for the Command Access Cards (CAC). You will participate in meetings and conferences.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience interpreting and applying security policies and regulations relating to access and protection of classified information. Experience adjudicating security clearances when clear-cut derogatory information is present in the investigative information or nature of materials. Experience maintaining all security files, instructions, directives and publications ensuring all investigative files are maintained/destroyed in accordance with regulations. Experience coordinating the objectives and plans, make accommodations in study/survey recommendations to allow for differing program requirements, develop or implement procedures and practices to cover multiple security objectives. Experiencing using a variety of security and computer software programs (DISS, NBIS e-App, MP ICAM, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Experience reviewing classified documents for proper markings, classification and downgrades, recommends the number and kind of safes, alarms, locks and fences needed. GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience maintaining all security files, instructions, directives and publications. Experience using computer software to perform office support functions. Experience demonstrating knowledge of security policies and regulations relating to access and protection of classified information. Experience assisting with reviewing classified documents for proper markings, classification and downgrades, recommends the number and kind of safes, alarms, locks and fences needed. Experiencing using a variety of security and computer software programs (DISS, NBIS e-App, MP ICAM, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Experience assisting with adjudicating security clearances when clear-cut derogatory information is present in the investigative information or nature of materials. GS-09
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.
