The primary purpose of this position COMPOSITE/PLASTIC FABRICATOR INSPECTOR, WG-4352-11 is to inspect the work of other craftsmen including aircraft surfaces for damage, integrity, deviations, and other out of tolerance conditions affecting Low Observable (LO) coatings and make sure they are within acceptable trade standards and specifications.
Duties
Inspect all composite or plastic parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, or structures with straight and curved surfaces having a number of interconnecting parts and components that have been repaired, modified, or overhauled.
Perform a complete inspection of equipment, all aircraft surfaces for damage, integrity, deviations and other out of tolerance conditions affecting Low Observable (LO) coatings and related components after work has been completed on the aircraft.
Conduct and witness inspections and tests on a variety of fabricated and repair work performed by others on structural and nonstructural airframe components, equipment, and completed airframes affecting Low Observable (LO) coatings and related components.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.

- May be required to travel (TDY) any place, any time, and in any manner to support the unit's mission, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, flight test operation.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4300 Pliable Materials Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work encompasses standing. Bending, stooping, stretching, and working in strained and cramped conditions. Frequently handles, lifts, and carries items weighting up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts and moves heavier items with mechanical or human assistance.

Work conditions frequently include exposure to dust, fumes, and toxic and/or potentially flammable and explosive chemicals that can cause skin, eye, and lung irritations. Employee could also be exposed to injury while operating machines and power tools required.
