The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing and exercising control over non-supervisory employees assigned to the Supply Management and Systems Section, Supply Branch, Logistics Readiness Division, Directorate of Logistics.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Directorate of Logistics, Supply Management and Systems Section.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Represents the Directorate of Logistics with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Accountable for the management of command SMAG General Support Division (GSD) programs and surveillance of Material Support Division operations.
Establishes policy and procedures that ensure computer support to accomplish the mission of command logistics readiness supply functions.
Command single point manager for Air Force stockage and retention policy.
Responsible for the management and oversight of a variety of specialized supply related activities.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station to base level units and Air Force and command level workshops on military or commercial aircraft.
- Skill in written and oral communications in order to present briefings and write reports.
- The work involves an in-depth understanding of many different and sometimes unrelated specialty areas, including supply, training, manpower, maintenance, contracting, transportation, and logistics planning.
- Work is both sedentary and active. Some walking and standing occurs in the course of a normal workday in connection with attendance at conferences or meetings.
- Work is normally performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office.
- This is a Supervisory Position." A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
- A Secret security clearance may be required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Supply Program Management Series 2003.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of Air Force retail and wholesale supply systems military to include an in-depth knowledge of supply management principles, concepts, policies and regulations and civilian personnel management policy. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of competitive and strategic sourcing policy, procedures, and processes. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to include the skill to independently develop, prepare, coordinate, staff, and implement policies, procedures, programs, and directives. Knowledge of Air Force supply management activity group and Air Force resource management policy, procedures, and operations. Knowledge of structure, contents, codes, internal and external interfaces, update procedures and uses of automated supply systems and databases.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Air Force retail and wholesale supply systems military to include an in-depth knowledge of supply management principles, concepts, policies and regulations and civilian personnel management policy.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures.
Ability to plan, organizes, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to select and apply a variety of analytical methods and techniques to supply processes.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
