You will serve as a HEALTH SYSTEM SPECIALIST in NMRTC TWENTY NINE PALMS CA.
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will maintain close liaison with Mility Service Coordinator (MSC), JAG Officers and VA Regional Claims OFfice.
You will coordinate process of the Medical Evaluation Board Report (MEBR) of personnel assigned to all branches of uniformed services.
You will set and adjust priorities of work involving multi-sections/units of completion of Medical Evaluation Board (MEDBOARD) cases.
You will generate and customize management reports and charts.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Qualifications
For GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Serving as the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility (BUMED MTF).
Counseling military personnel being processed through the Disability Evaluation System (DES) on their rights, benefits, privileges and obligations.
Providing information to various agencies on the status of all activities under his/her case
workload (e.g. Medical Evaluation Board/Physical Evaluation Board (MEB/PEB) processing,
Line of Duty (LOD) management, Temporary Disability Retirement List (TDRL) workload, and the tracking/medical statistical reporting, etc.).
Utilizing Information Technology to document progress, concerns or other issues relevant to the member's cases entering all mandatory data into System of Record, Veterans Tracking Application (VTA), Limited Duty Salor and Marine Tracker (LIMDU SMART), or other automated systems.
Coordinating evaluation appointments, assists in preparing appeals, rebuttals and the assignment of service member's legal counsel.
Utilizing the Department of Defense Instruction (DoD), Secretary of the Navy Instruction. DES policy, guidelines, processes and procedures sufficient to serve as technical authority for assigned programs.
Utilizing time management principles, assessment skills and techniques in order to evaluate the full scope of problems associated with providing high quality care and support to beneficiaries in the most efficient manner.
Completing work interest that are all high priority, recognizing the different motivations of the internal customers and the external customers, and the ability to balance and communicate the needs of each. while maintaining operations according to policies and guidelines.
Establishing workflow methods and procedures, determine work to be accomplished, and set work priorities.
Applying complex fact-finding, analytical and investigative techniques to gather factual information to determine the appropriate treatment of matters as they apply to moderately complex benefits and issues of service members and retirees.
Performing research and ensure accuracy of records.
Communicating oral and written sufficient to prepare and present findings.
For GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Attending classroom training and participates in on-the-job training and other activities designed to develop knowledge of Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) duties and responsibilities.
Serving as the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO) for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility (BUMED MTF).
Counseling military personnel being processed through the Disability Evaluation System (DES) on their rights, benefits, privileges and obligations.
Coordinating evaluation appointments, assists in preparing appeals, rebuttals and the assignment of service member's legal counsel.
Utilizing the Department of Defense Instruction (DoD), Secretary of the Navy Instruction. DES policy, guidelines, processes and procedures sufficient to serve as technical authority for assigned programs.
