You will serve as an EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of NSA WASHINGTON.

Duties

You will advise senior leadership on emergency management procedures that comply with standards and maintain an acceptable level of risk to mission operations. You will coordinate with government civil authorities for planning and execution of joint radiological emergency response drills. You will recommend policy changes to improve the efficiency of an emergency management program. You will develop and implement emergency management training, exercises, and evaluations to promote mission readiness. You will evaluate an emergency management program to identify and resolve conflicting goals and objectives.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Displaying knowledge of emergency management encompassing "all hazards" disaster contingency planning to include nature and / or manmade; (2) Observing the working of the Regional Operations Center (ROC); (3) Reviewing emergency management publications, regulations and correspondence to determine initial and follow-up action; (4) Operating independently during conferences, briefings and normal day-to-day situations; (5) Performing a variety of administrative type duties; (6) Reading and understanding technical / non-technical publications and reports; (7) Interacting with representatives of other staff, subordinate commands, Federal, state and local emergency response organizations. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
