The Mission Operations Directorate at Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) is seeking interested applicants for an Electronics Technician position within the Dryden Aeronautical Test Range (DATR). Position involves leveraging telemetry system operations and maintenance and expertise to assist Range Operations contractors in the development of new processes and capabilities, and sustainment of existing systems and capabilities.
Duties
Provides technical oversight to DATR systems development and integration activities, assuring system quality and integrity, and satisfying program requirements within budget, schedule, and assigned resources.
Serves as subject matter expert (SME) within the operational DATR work groups. This includes establishing technical goals, policies, procedures, long-range plans, and priorities for DATR systems, consistent with flight research program requirements.
Acts as a technical resource for government and contractor staff regarding the implementation of engineering efforts performed by the Range Engineering Branch.
Provides written and oral reports and briefings on DATR tracking and communications systems to Range Operations Branch and Mission Systems Directorate leadership.
Assists in the creation and tracking of DATR configuration change requests (CCRs) and other configuration documentation. Attends and serves as DATR Configuration Control Board (CCB) official.
Maintains working relationships with Technical Monitors, Range Control Officers (RCOs), and Range Engineering management in all areas that affect the operational readiness and capability of the DATR.
Supports Range Operations System Integration Specialist in the planning and execution of operational systems development and integration. Includes written reports, briefings, charts, drawings, communications, and project schedule tracking.
Regularly informs Range Operations and Engineering branch management is informed of any areas of development and maintenance that affect range readiness.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service:
Performing operation and maintenance of test range systems, including telemetry and RADAR tracking antennas, receivers, signal modulation and distribution equipment, voice communication systems, radios, flight termination, and video distribution;
Participating in operational and engineering readiness reviews, critical design reviews, and project meetings related to range support;
Producing documentation and drawings of telemetry systems, working with configuration control board processes and documents, and operational integration with engineering processes.
