Duties
You will serve COMPACFLT as the SME on Extremely High Frequency (EHF) and Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) with respect to EHF/AEHF systems, operations, and policy with an advanced understanding of the enterprise governance.
You will perform extensive analytical and investigative duties to identify shortfalls and influence corrective measures supporting EHF/AEHF systems, constellations, and supporting infrastructure.
You will provide COMPACFLT theater level SATCOM planning vital for command and control of the Pacific Fleet in support of Maritime Operations.
You will represent COMPACFLT positions and interests on Satellite Communications (SATCOM) issues at both the Theater operational and tactical levels of war during operational planning team meetings, exercise planning conferences.
You will provide protected SATCOM planning support to various Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) and COMPACFLT exercises.
You will provide protected Ballistic Missile Defense communications planning and protected satellite communications support daily and during exercise and surge events.
You will provide expertise and advisement on Protected SATCOM systems and architecture supporting the Pacific Fleet Maritime Operations Center and Operational Plans (OPLAN).

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying communications concepts, principles, and practices in planning for and coordinating communication systems upgrades and maintenance and identifying, developing, and communicating recommendations to prevent or mitigate operational impact to the organization.

This position supports the Communications and Information Systems directorate (N6) at U.S. Pacific Fleet Headquarters. Primary tasks include satellite communications (SATCOM) planning for maritime operations and exercises, ballistic missile defense, and reporting on the readiness of satellite communications systems. Candidates must be able to gather technical details of outages and degradations for various SATCOM systems. Candidates must also be able to think critically about how to best distribute limited SATCOM resources, to mitigate outages and maximize resiliency.
Applicant must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, and be able to articulate technical communication system information to non-technical personnel. Candidates should be comfortable providing recommendations to and influencing external organizations.
Shift work is a requirement of the position. Candidates for this position must be able to pass a background investigation and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
