This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator/Forklift Operator for Fort Sill Oklahoma.

Duties

Operates forklifts and container handling equipment capable of lifting 2,000 to 55,000 pounds. Determines the manner and sequence of loading cargo to achieve load balance. Maneuvers equipment over uneven terrain, over improved or unimproved roads. Directs loading of trucks and freight cars. Unloads designated conveyances. Checks for evidence of damage.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Fork Lift Operator's License.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Material Handler (Fork Lift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. -Ability to perform common Material Handler Handler (MVO/FLO) duties which include performing warehousing work involved in the receipt, storage, shipment, issue/distribution and inventory of expendable medical and non-medical supplies and equipment. I can perform packing, unpacking, sorting, stacking, warehousing, and moving items. I can perform in-storage checks for maintenance requirements, vermin control, and damage. Report findings and serious damage to supervisor for action. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Transportation movements and container yard work requires prolonged standing on hard surfaces, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, positions and carries supplies and equipment weighing from 20 to 35 pounds and, occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering and tilting the loads being moved.Motor vehicle and material handling operation requires good hand and eye coordination in the manipulation of gears, levers, brakes, steering wheel, etc. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting loads and overturning. Equipment is operated wherever it is needed.
