National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.
Duties
Principal advisor to College leadership for special events, ceremonies, social functions, programs, and other activities for high-level delegations in support of the College’s research, outreach, and programs for the academic year.
Responsible for event planning and management for ceremonies, conferences, lectures and special events.
Coordinates with co-host and other NDU activities to manage logistical support, security, audio visual (AV), seating plans, escort duties, official honors and coordination with guest and their executive agents, graphics and other support.
Lead event coordinator, in support of the College of Information and Cyberspace (CIC) Leadership, for high-level visits by US and foreign delegations.
Responsible for the execution and administration of funds allocated to the College for support of official visits, ceremonies, social functions, programs, and other activities.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume.
Specialized Experience: Is defined as executing a full range of special events/official functions to include:
1) providing advice and guidance to management on event planning; and
2) coordinating activities such as distinguished visits, ceremonies and conferences; and
3) maintaining a master schedule of events; and
4) execution and administration of funds.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
GS-11 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.
