This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Human Resources Operations Division. As a Human Resources Assistant (OA), you will provide human resource services for multiple customer agencies, using various HR systems and databases.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Human Resources Assistant (OA), you will:
Process a range of actions, including those that have unusual conditions or issues requiring deviation from standard procedures to complete the action.
Identify and resolve routine complaints or problems; determine scope, nature and interrelationships; and resolve problems using appropriate methods and techniques selected from many alternatives.
Perform a detailed review of records and other documentation, prepare and present summaries of information for further analysis and processing.
Assist HR Specialists and others by performing structured segments of their work or participating on projects and studies.
Respond to inquiries concerning HR entitlements and services, process procedures, alternatives, and requirements, and provide other information depending on the nature of the issue, organization serviced, status of the requestor and similar factors.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.
You must be able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-05: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully.
Specialized experience is defined as possessing BOTH of the following:
- Responding to inquiries in person, via email, and on the telephone, AND
- Reviewing files and documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines.
OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: four (4) years of education above the high school level.
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level or equivalent, which is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and has equipped the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully. Specialized experience is defined as possessing ALL of the following:
- Performing in a technical, clerical, and administrative support role for a business or organization utilizing computer systems and tools to prepare and update documents and reports, AND
- Responding to inquiries in person, via email, and on the telephone, AND
- Reviewing files and documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-05, you may be advanced to the GS-05 position if you have held a position no lower than GS-03 in the preceding year under your latest non-temporary competitive appointment OR have held a position at GS-05 or higher under a non-temporary appointment at any time in the past.
