This position is located within the Supply Chain Management Service at the Charles George VA Medical Center, located in Asheville, NC. The purpose of this position includes operation and maintenance of reproduction/duplication equipment and other office equipment. The incumbent also orders, maintains and distributes publication from VA Publication Depot for medical center employees and the served veteran population.
Duties
Duties include, but not limited to:
Operates a variety of equipment to reproduce material for the Medical Center. Assignments result in a variety of materials and photographs used for briefings, training sessions and seminars.
Set-up, operate and adjust various equipment associated with the reproduction of readable copes of official hospital documents including but not limited to; bulletins, memoranda, surgery schedules, on-call rosters, authorized local forms and overprints.
Uses a high speed coper to reproduce documents, forms booklets, business cards and pamphlets.
Sorts and collates reproduced documents, using appropriate equipment such as Paper Drill, Industrial Paper Cutter, Laminating Machine, Color Copier and High Speed copier.
Operating duties include inspecting and placing the master on the machine; loading the feed tray, filling ink and water reservoirs and controlling ink and water flow.
Operates a variety of copiers to include a high speed black and white copier, a high speed color coper, both with digital panels and network ready.
Reviews record disposal requests to ensure that they are in accordance with RCS 10-1 and assures that the medical center adheres to those standards and specifications.
Maintains a professional environment and notifies supervisor of environmental hazards and/or problems relating to cleanliness, space and safety issues.
Provides staffing coverage for the Mail Clerk positions when workload or staffing shortages requires support.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/18/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician position. Specialized experience includes providing equipment and material to clinical and administrative areas of a health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing equipment and related material; utilizing an automated system to maintain equipment records; and answering customer questions regarding non-expandable equipment and materials.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Physical Requirements: Work required recurring lifting of moderately heavy (50 pounds or less) items such as boxes of paper stock and other supplies. Periods of continuous standing, stooping, reaching and bending during the operation and adjustment of the equipment. The work requires good hand and eye coordination to make adjustments during equipment operation. Transports and stores old medical center records in the basement, the transporting is usually done by flatbed cart. Walking and pushing mail cart to transport and deliver various printed material and completed duplication requests.
