Employee will serve as a Copier/Duplicator Equipment Operator aligned within the Office Operations Section and Document Distribution Unit of Health Administration Service located at the Charles George Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Asheville, NC.
Duties

Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Operates a variety of equipment to reproduce materials; sets up, operates, and adjusts various equipment associated with the reproduction of readable copies of official hospital documents.
Sorts and collates documents, using appropriate equipment (Paper Drills and Cutters; laminating machine; color and high-speed copiers; image-makers; etc.)
Inspects equipment, performs operator maintenance, and diagnoses equipment malfunctions to maintain print quality, prevent jams, correct poor inking, and maintain equipment operation performance.
Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and operating problems (symptoms; possible causes; remedies to solve problem).
Maintains various logs and reports associated with duplicating equipment operation duties and with mail/messenger/telephone operator duties.
Performs other duties, as necessary.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: setting up, operating, and adjusting copiers/reproduction equipment with duplicator/sorter/collator controls; maintaining logs and reports of duplicating equipment operation duties; diagnosing equipment malfunctions and operating problems and taking corrective measures. -OR-
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. -OR-
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of 2 years) and related specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires recurring lifting of moderately heavy (50 pounds or less) items such as boxes of paper stock and other supplies. Periods of continuous standing, stooping, reaching, and bending during the operation and adjustment of the equipment. Requires good hand and eye coordination to make adjustments during equipment operation. Transports and stores old medical center records in basement of building, typically done by flatbed cart. Walking and pushing mail cart to transport and deliver various printed materials and completed duplication requests.
