About the Position: This position serves as an engineering technician with the Fort Irwin Resident Office located at Fort Irwin, California.

Duties

This position is developmental to the full performance GS-11 grade. At the full performance grade, the employee will: Prepare design revisions to plans, specifications and cost estimates, or independently evaluate those prepared by others (i.e. project engineers, mechanical/electrical specialists, suppliers solutions). Assist with change orders for a variety of projects requiring considerable adaptation of precedents or designs. Review contractor proposals and/or user requests for additions, deletions, modifications, or other contract changes. Prepare construction cost estimates.

• This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical support on construction contracts, and computing data to create pay estimates and final payments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing construction schedules and modifications using management and financial systems and providing administrative and technical guidance to project personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
