This position serves as a Clerk Typist/ Timekeeper in the Office of the Chief, Nutrition and Food Services at the Miami VA Healthcare System. This position performs various-clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing office automation duties such as word processing in support of the clerical, administrative, and timekeeping functions.
Duties

Major Duties:
Uses word processing software to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print forms, memos, and letters.
Uses existing database or spreadsheet software to create, enter, revise, sort or calculate, and retrieve data for reports.
Performs timekeeping duties.
Uses graphics software to provide graphs and charts for reports and presentations.
Prepares a wide variety of recurring correspondence, internal reports, and other documents from information obtained from office staff files and other sources
Reviews and finalizes documents prepared by others.
Screens incoming mail to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to the appropriate staff, or rerouted to other offices.
Establishes suspense dates as directed by the supervisor and brings to supervisor's attention those that cannot be met by requested dates.
Reviews outgoing correspondence-for procedural and grammatical accuracy and conformance with administrative requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

EXPERIENCE: GS-4 Have at least one (1) year of general experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Office Automation Clerk (Medical Transcribing) GS-4. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates your ability to perform the duties of this position. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title; duties; month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

EDUCATION: Two (2) years of education above the high school level for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained at an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation.

COMBINATION: Equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education and general experience, as described above, which meet the total qualification requirements for this grade level. NOTE: Your experience must be documented in your resume and transcripts are required.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates.
