Serve as the assigned Clerk Typist/ Time Keeper in the Office of the Chief, Nutrition and Food Services at the Miami VA Healthcare System.
Duties
Major duties include but not limited to:
Use word processing software to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print forms, memos, letters and time keeping files/records for the service.
Perform timekeeping work for the service.
Use existing database or spreadsheet software to create, enter, revise, sort or calculate and retrieve data for reports and presentations.
Prepare a wide variety of recurring correspondence, internal reports, and other documents from information obtained from office staff, files and other sources and reviews and finalizes documents prepared by others.
Screen incoming mail to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to the appropriate staff, or rerouted to other offices.
Receive and direct telephone calls or visitors.
Establish, update and maintain office records of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the office.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am-4:30 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/15/2024.
The position requires being able to type 40 words per minute.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-04 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-03. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
General Experience: You must have one year of general experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-03 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Use word processing software to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print forms, memos, and letters; screen incoming mail; establish suspense dates; receive and direct telephone calls or visitors; establish, update and maintain office records; assist with clerical and procedural requirements and instructions.. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have education of at least two years above high school. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education equivalent to two years above high school.
Prior experience with clerical duties or serving as a timekeeper are preferred.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. May require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
