About the Position: Responsible for the leadership of the community relations branch. Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal and external information for community relations programs. Develops effective methods, creating, monitoring, directing, and seeking feedback and change to the community relations program.

Duties

Analyzes information needs of the installation and partnerships with the community. Participates in planning and executing special programs that are targeted to improve community-Fort Meade relations. Ensures community relations plan is continually updated with current information and properly executed. Develops necessary communications channels with individuals and groups which can influence public, civic, and private attitudes and relationships between Fort Meade and the region. Assures that community relations and domestic action activities are programmed and sensitive to area distribution pattern equity and long-range public affairs goals. Represents the command at social functions and meetings involving varying levels of civilian and military leaders. Provides necessary community relations, advice, and counsel to staff activities, units, and professional organizations operating on the installation. Coordinates and evaluates the Total Army Involvement in Recruiting (TAIR) Program. Coordinates and conducts educator and high school tours designed to inform and educate civilians about the Army, its lifestyles, and its benefits. Escorts selected dignitaries while on post, and escorts tours of the post by invited guests. This task includes close coordination and cooperation with Executive Services. Identifies necessary item submissions for Community Relations program in administrative, budgetary, and logistic support. Coordinates and evaluates requests for speakers from community groups and internal organizations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
