About the Position: This position is located at the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center (RIA-JMTC).
Duties
Select workers and assigns tasks to be performed.
Plan and prescribe deadlines and work sequence for individual workers based on guidance received.
Review work-related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity.
Explain work requirements, methods and procedures to subordinates.
Initiate implementation of personnel management programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position well be 3rd shift but may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees)applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painter Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I can perform the work of a Painter Supervisor, such as: reviewing instructions received to ensure that adequate resources (e.g. personnel, materials, equipment) are at the worksite; planning work sequences to ensure deadlines are met; knowledge of painting/coating processes and equipment to explain operating requirements/procedures to subordinates. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crouching and arm movement. Paints from ladders, scaffolds and platforms. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to forty pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in shop areas. May be exposed to eye, skin, nose, and lung irritations from glue, banding chemicals, vapors, splinters and sawdust. May be exposed to the possibility of broken bones, cuts and serious injuries while operating machines. May be required to wear protective equipment and clothing.
