This Program Support Assistant position is located in the Associate Director, Patient Care service within the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) at Aurora, CO. The primary purpose of the position is to support the Patient Care service and the Nursing Staffing office in all administrative functions. The incumbent maintains a professional working relationship and environment with team members, professional staff, management, other services, and the general public.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Performs data entry and maintenance.
Clearly expresses information to individuals and groups throughout the organization as needed. Acts as the liaison between varying departments within ECHCS, as well as between the unit and contractor.
Assists with a development, management, and maintenance of internal review systems.
Assists with clerical and administrative duties associated with planning and evaluating administrative programs, committees, and workgroups, timekeeping, onboarding tasks, purchase card orders.
Assists in improving customer service.
Assists with the development of business practices.
Assists with the management of personnel files.
Uses VA data systems to assist in providing reliable and up to date information.
Assists in the on-boarding process of agency personnel; badging, requesting and processing physicals, and requesting computer access, etc.
Provides reliable and up to date information to support the Service in the development of decision-tools and recommendations.
Assists in the development and coordination of internal review systems to assure that both clinical and administrative activities comply with agency and accrediting requirements.
Performs administrative duties assigned by the Service Chief.
Collects and maintenance data.
Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary and accomplished sitting at a desk. However, there may be some activity including, but not limited to: walking; standing; bending; carrying light items such as papers, books, small parts, and other items 15 lbs. or less; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Specialized Experience for GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Performs administrative functions, including but not limited to: coordinating meetings, creating work orders, ordering supplies, assisting with timekeeping, etc. Assists in the development, management, and maintenance of internal review systems to ensure both clinical and administrative activities comply with agency and accrediting requirements. Assist with planning and evaluating administrative programs, special projects, and business practices. Assists in the on-boarding process including; performing badging, requesting/processing physicals, computer access, gathering demographic information, and acting as the liaison between departments. Assists with collection and maintenance of data.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
