You will serve as a Mission Support Specialist within RLSO NDW WASHINGTON DC.

Duties

You will control and manage all incoming correspondence using established office procedures and knowledge of the organization. You will answer incoming phone calls and inquiries from visitors, using utmost discretion in screening and referring calls/visitors to the appropriate staff member or attorney. You will be responsible for the maintenance of records and client files and properly maintain and destroy files in accordance with the DON’s Records Management Policies. You will conduct initial quality assurance review of case files to ensure documents are complete and meet all legal requirements. You will be required to perform general office duties, including preparing correspondence, drafting documents, scanning, photocopying and filing.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying and analyzing problems, weighing the relevance and accuracy of information, and evaluating alternative perspectives/solutions; 2) Making effective recommendations based on potential implications of findings or conclusions; 3) Composing standardized documents and reports while following administrative processes and instructions; 4) Utilizing various databases to store, maintain, and track files for the organization; 5) Preparing court documents, filings, and case correspondence; and 6) Coordinating case tracking, updates, and filings. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

1 full year of graduate level education

or

superior academic achievement
