This position is located at the Regional Office in Lakewood, CO.
This position assists the Regional & Deputy Regional Forester in the analysis, development, and installation of effective communications. The position also provides personal assistance on confidential matters, office continuity, internal direction, and special project assignments.

Duties
Duties listed are at the full performance level, GS 11.
Implement administrative processes in response to new and changing program requirements and/or other developments.
Follow administrative procedures of functions such as incoming/outgoing correspondence, records management and/or publications/forms management in support of an organization.
Use customer feedback data to plan, provide, and/or improve products and/or services.
Participate in staff and/or management level meetings and discussions involving administrative and management functions of an office.
Prepare confidential and/or personal correspondence for leadership for use at strategic planning meetings.
Assist senior personnel in the preparation of draft or final written documents to communicate ideas, goals, policies, analysis, and/or direction.
Requirements

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
GS-9.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level. Examples may include: Operated as an organization's office manager or assistant for top level management/executive staff managing the activities, correspondence, visitors and inquiries; Planned and scheduling meetings, conferences, and travel; Maintained upper level management calendars; Experienced in using office automation functions and software.
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related;
OR
An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
GS-11.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level. Examples may include: Identified, analyzed, and coordinated the integration of data into correspondence, reports, and presentations; Coordinated services between stakeholders in ensuring cross-functional support activities and initiatives are carried out; Conducted analytical studies of processes, operations, and/or services to assist with the evaluation of program effectiveness and recommend improvements to processes and systems; Screened incoming mail, calls, and general inquiries and independently determined how to direct communication or respond; Managed top level leadership's itinerary.
OR
Applicants must have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (coursework directly related to position being filled);
OR
An appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e., more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
