The National Institutes of Health invites candidates with strong operational, clinical research, and leadership credentials to apply for the position of Nurse (Consultant), Department of Transfusion Medicine and Center for Cellular Engineering at the NIH, Clinical Center, Bethesda, MD.

Duties

The role of the Nurse (Consultant) will be to serve as a senior specialist while managing a broad array of administrative projects and provide clinical consultative support to the NIH Clinical Center. Preparing clinical PSIs/SOPs of manufacturing protocols including preparing changes to internal manufacturing documents based on information obtained from PIs on changes made for clinical reasons. Managing the clinical documentation on CCE protocols prior to product manufacture and infusion- Draft Authorized Medical Exceptions, Declaration of Urgent Medical Needs, determining donor eligibility, and placing CCE CRIS orders. Preparing and signing off on CCE documents with a focus on patient and product safety, continuity of care, and informed participation. Accurately documenting observations, identifying and evaluating trends and important findings, and effectively communicating this information to the interdisciplinary research team and nursing colleagues.

Qualifications

In order to meet the Basic Qualification Requirements for a Nurse (Consultant), GS-0610, you must have: A Graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools; AND Passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). AND A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Additional Qualification Requirements: In addition to the Basic Qualification Requirements for a Nurse (Consultant), GS-0610-12, you must meet the Additional Qualification Requirements listed below. GS-12: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Providing clinical consultative support and direction within a healthcare setting; assessing, planning, performing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care and resources in a clinical research facility, serving as a leader on projects within a clinical practice and making suggestions for areas of improvement, coordinating several administrative projects, and managing organizational tasks.
