Securing Travel, Protecting People - At the Transportation Security Administration, you will serve in a high-stakes environment to safeguard the American way of life. In cities across the country, you would secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and/or public transit systems, thus protecting America's transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce.
Duties
This Executive Assistant position is located in Enterprise Support (ES) Information Technology (IT) Front Office (FO), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Leads as office manager for tracking project completion, scheduling Executive meetings and coordinating administrative activities and functions for the Front Office.
Coordinates and schedules high-level meetings, receiving and directing phone calls, inquiries and visitors and controlling correspondence information and documents that flow through the office while ensuring timely handling of sensitive materials.
Drafts various Executive letters and messages and ensures correct grammar, spelling, format, etc.
Coordinates domestic and international travel to include facilitating logistics, researching and identifying the best available travel itineraries and briefing documents.
The major duties described above reflect the full performance level of this position. Typically, the lower pay band (H Band) performs the same duties but will receive more guidance and training; and/or projects/work assignments may be less complex.
Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-H Pay Band (equivalent to GS-12), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-G or GS-11 Pay Band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled. Specialize experience is defined as:
Providing a wide range of administrative services to senior officials at the highest levels of an agency/organization (e.g. assisting with the planning/coordination of executive level meetings and conferences, managing an active calendar of appointments, coordinating multiple projects and serving as liaison to external constituents); and
Preparing complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, agendas and reports (e.g. expense reports).
To qualify for the SV-I Pay Band (equivalent to GS-13), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-H Pay Band or GS-12 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such specialized experience is defined as:
Working on behalf of a senior official at the highest levels of an organization to provide guidance and oversight on a wide range of administrative services (e.g. projects, inquiries, on-the-spot priority decisions and general follow-up with other senior executives and staff); and
Planning and coordinating executive level meetings and conferences (e.g. making all necessary arrangements, researching and preparing meeting materials, organizing schedules of multiple participants, taking minutes, and following up on action items, managing an active calendar of appointments, coordinating multiple projects, and serving as liaison to external constituents); and
Preparing complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, agendas and reports (for example, expense reports).
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
