The Administrative Support Assistant (ASA) serves as the principal administrative assistant, initial point of contact for the service, public, and schedule and coordinate all meetings for Chief of Mental Health and Supervisory Program Analyst.
Duties
Major Duties:
Responsible for maintaining an organized and efficient administrative office in support of the operations in the Mental Health Service, including personnel administration, time keeping, data processing, project tracking, and files management per records retention regulations.
Researches and introduces technology-oriented solutions to improve Mental Health operations.
Assists with developing and updating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by reviewing content to ensure accuracy with administrative process within Mental Health Service.
Ensures that all Mental Health policies are tracked and updated prior to expiration per VHA requirement.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full time, M-F, 0800-1630
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/10/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Specialized experience related to this position includes experience in program administration and management; assistance with day-to-day operational duties; Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with variety of individuals; Problem solve and apply decision making skills. sustaining processes and procedures to ensure program effectiveness; interpreting, analyzing, and responding to requests for information from internal and external entities; collecting, compiling, managing and reporting program data; preparing correspondence and reports; utilizing automated software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary use of hands and fingers in using computers, although some slight physical effort may be required. May require walking through clinical patient environment to gather data and information.
