This position supports the operation of the Caregiver Support Program. Administratively supports all Caregiver Support Program staff, assists with the collects and analyzes necessary data for the program; assists with the educational activities and the Annual Caregiver Support month activities, coordinates, collects and analyzes necessary data for the program.
Duties
Major duties include:
Serves as the Program Assistant in support of the Caregiver Support Program Coordinator, and other assigned caregiver support program staff.
Aids the Program Coordinator in accomplishing a variety of tasks including answering phones, checking faxes, running Carma and CPRS reports, application management, MPI name change requests, and mailing all required Veteran and Caregiver letters via regular mail and certified mail.
Assists Veterans and Caregivers in the Program of General Caregiver Support Services and Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers, numerous program data tracking reports in CPRS and Carma databases.
Analyze Caregiver Support Program applications.
Track the monthly wellness contact home visits.
Responsible for analyzing and tracking the budget for caregiver respite and mental health services.
Collects and categorizes of all personnel workload.
Provides excellent relational and communication skills with a military Veteran population within a medical/psychiatric environment.
Provides fiscal support electronically forwarding related activity or information to Fiscal Services for payment.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience in program administration and management; assistance with day-to-day operational duties; Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with variety of individuals; Problem solve and apply decision making skills. sustaining processes and procedures to ensure program effectiveness; interpreting, analyzing, and responding to requests for information from internal and external entities; collecting, compiling, managing and reporting program data; preparing correspondence and reports; utilizing automated software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).

Physical Requirements: This position will work on-site in an office setting at the Fresno VAMC. The position may entail possible lifting of no more than 25 pounds of administrative supplies on an as needed basis, but whenever possible, dollies and carts will be utilized as an alternative to lifting. Also, the physical demands include walking, observing and evaluation verbal nonverbal behavior, active listening, reading, speaking, email communication, using office equipment such as computers, telephones, fax machines, and copy machines. Work is primarily provided on-site in a safe working environment. The work environment will be a shared office space. The Program Support Assistant will be diligent in maintaining HIPPA compliance and locking all sensitive medical information in a locked cabinet.
