This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),Office of the Chief Security Officer .
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop, coordinate, implement and oversee the policies and standards and procedures for the safeguarding of classified national security information and sensitive but unclassified information.
This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Supervisory Security Specialist, GS-0080-14, your typical work assignments may include:
Developing strategy and training implantations plans to meet those requirements and the security mission requirements of Department of Homeland Security.
Delivering a broad spectrum of security-related classroom training and multimedia conferring to enable students to interpret and apply Department of Homeland Security program theory and concepts.
Assisting in establishing performance standards and conducting performance evaluations.
Attending seminars and training courses offered by both government and private sector organizations in order to maintain an expert level of knowledge related to security programs.
Developing and implementing DHS-wide policies, standards and procedures for administration and management of programs involving the release of classified information to federal, state and local officials.
Responsible for performing a variety of duties associated with any aspect of DHS personnel, physical, operational, industrial, communications, or information systems security programs and also includes responsibility for delivering a broad spectrum of security-related classroom training and multimedia conferencing to enable students to interpret and apply DHS Security Program theory and concept.
Developing, evaluating, and integrating training on security-related processes and policies, security education and awareness products including computer-based and web-based training.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Ensuring that subordinates understand and are in compliance with constitutional, legal and departmental policies and regulations.
Developing, evaluating, and integrating training on security-related processes and policies, including computer-based and web-based training.
Advising top level staff officials and subject matter managers on developments and advances in the various security programs.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

This a drug Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters Drug-Free Workplace Program. The incumbent is required to sign a Condition of Employment form (for certain positions identified as critical under the drug testing program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment, reassignment, or transfer and employee will be subject to random testing while employed with the Department in a TDP
